FUSO’s 6th Annual Ugnayan Conference will take place this coming Fall 2016 semester on November 5, 2016 at the University of San Diego.
This year’s Ugnayan Conference is entitled:
Exploring Our Origins:
Paggalugad ng Ating Pinanggalingan
Now in its 23rd year, the Filipino Ugnayan Student Organization has been able to explore its roles in practicing social justice through the exploration of the Filipino culture, our social responsibilities, and our abilities to stand together and collaborate across physical, cultural, and social borders. With the word Ugnayan meaning “to link,” the 6th Annual Ugnayan Conference hopes to live up to its name in creating a bridge between our pasts, presents, and futures. Oftentimes, we’re told a history based on a hegemonic narrative — a history embellished to reflect the winner’s perspectives and values. However, to this day, many powerful and mind-blowing stories remain untold. In the words of Jose Rizal, “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.” So let’s navigate these stories together — through a different lens: your own!
Pre-registration is officially open.
